پروژه ی شیلر توسط Christopher von Deylen و Mirko von Schlieffen در سال 1998 بنیان گذاری شد و با ریلیز کردن اولین آهنگ تکی آنها یعنی Glockenspiel شروع شد .آنها سپس کارشان را با ریلیز کردن اولین آلبومشان یعنی Zeitgeist در سال 1999 ادامه دادند . دومین آلبوم استودیویی شیلر یعنی Weltreise الهامی بود از سفر دو نفری که Deylen با پدرش از لندن به Peking انجام دادند .
Von Deylen و von Schlieffen تفاوت هایی را به وجود آوردند و این تضاد بین آنها بر سر اینکه هردو مایل به رهبری ( پروژه ی ) شیلر بودند باعث شد که Von Schlieffen گروه را ترک کند .
تیتر آلبوم چهارم شیلر Tag Und Nacht ( شب و روز ) قرار گرفت . این آلبوم توسط Universal Music در سال 2005 در میانه ی پاییز با دو نسخه ریلیز شد که یکی از آنها نسخه ی استاندارد معمول بود و دیگری نسخه ی لوکس دو دیسکی با آهنگ های جدید بود یعنی یک ریمیکس از Die Nacht و یک نمونه ی کلی Chill Out ( یک تراک تنها که به طور پیوسته هر تراک پی در پی در آن پخش میشه ) از آلبوم .
ریلیز آمریکای شمالی آلبوم شب و روز در روز 10 ماه July در سال 2007 صورت گرفت . یک دی وی دی به همون نام شامل footage کنسرت زنده ای که همزمان ریلیز شده بود
آلبوم پنجم شیلر یعنی Sehnsucht در دسامبر 2007 خبر از پخشش داده شد و بعدا در 22 فبریه ی سال 2008 ریلیز شد .
Sehnsucht به طور همزمان در دو فرمت و 3 نسخه به ترتیب زیر ریلیز شد :
یک نسخه ی سوپر دلوکس محدود که به صورت دو سی دی و یک دی وی دی ریلیز شد . این نسخه حاوی 30 آهنگ جدید خواهد بود و چنان vocalist هایی نظیر Kim Sanders و Jette von Roth که با شیلر در گذشته همکاری کرده اند و صداهای جدیدی نظیر Klaus Schulze, Ana Torroja, Despina Vandi, Ben Becker, Xavier Naidoo و دیگران .
دی وی دی شامل Footage کنسرت شیلر در Kiev است و همچنین کلیپ های ویدیو موزیک و یک بخش 15 دقیقه ای همراه با خود von Deylen . همچنین شامل یک کتاب 36 صفحه ای شامل عکس ها ,بحث ها , اطلاعات ریز و جزئی در مورد آهنگ های خاص و موارد دیگر است .
یک نسخه ی محدود که تنها حاوی یک دیسک صوتی و یک دی وی ست . دیسک صوتی حاوی تراک های گلچین شده از سی دی های یک و دو نسخه ی سوپر دولوکس است . دی وی دی این نسخه همانند با دی وی دی نسخه ی سوپر دولوکس است .

Sehnsucht, تحت نام " Desire " در روز 26 ماه می سال 2008 به طور بین المللی ریلیز شد . Schiller was founded by Christopher von Deylen and Mirko von Schlieffen in 1998, signaled with the release of their first single Glockenspiel. They then followed up with the release of their first album, Zeitgeist (Time Spirit) in 1999. Schiller's second studio album Weltreise (Voyage) was inspired by a two-month-long road trip that Deylen took with his father from London to Peking.
Von Deylen and von Schlieffen had creative differences, and a conflict between the both of them regarding the direction the two wished to take Schiller led to Von Schlieffen leaving the group
Schiller's fourth studio album is entitled Tag Und Nacht (Day And Night). It was released in Germany through Universal Music in mid-fall 2005, with two editions:
• A standard release.
• A two disc deluxe edition with two new songs, a remix of "Die Nacht...", and a chill-out sample compilation of the album.
The North American release of Day And Night came on July 10, 2007. A DVD by the same name containing footage of a live concert was released simultaneously.
Schiller's fifth album, Sehnsucht (Longing) was announced in December 2007 and later released on February 22, 2008. Sehnsucht was simultaneously released in two formats and in three editions which are as follows:
• A limited super deluxe edition 3-disc release with two CDs and a DVD. Over 30 new songs will be on the album, with such vocalists as Kim Sanders and Jette von Roth who have collaborated with Schiller in the past, as well as new voices, Klaus Schulze, Ana Torroja, Despina Vandi, Ben Becker, Xavier Naidoo, and others.
The DVD is to contain footage from the Schiller concert in Kiev, as well as music video clips and 15-minute segment with von Deylen himself. Also to be included is a 36-page book containing photos, discussions, detailed information about particular songs, and other ephemera.
• A limited edition which contains only one audio disc and a DVD. The audio disc comprises a selection of tracks from the first and second discs of the super deluxed edition. The DVD is identical to the one in the super deluxe edition
Sehnsucht, a track from the new album, is the first video, and likely the first single from the album.
Over 100,000 copies of Sehnsucht have been sold since its release and the album has received the golden certification. "Sehnsucht" was internationally released under the name "Desire" on 26 May 2008. Maserati used Schiller's song "Drifting and Dreaming" for their promotional video of the Maserati Granturismo

Schiller is the main project of Christopher von Deylen, a German musician. He has won the ECHO-award (2002) for the Best Dance-Single of the Year . Christopher Von Deylen doesn't provide vocals for any of his compositions, instead he chooses to collaborate with singers from within and outside of Germany. Musicians and vocalists who have worked with von Deylen include: German actor and musician Ben Becker, Irish singer Moya Brennan of the Celtic group Clannad and sister to international new age star Enya, The Biggest Selling Soprano Sarah Brightman, Peter Heppner of the German synth pop band Wolfsheim, miLù, Xavier Naidoo, Maya Saban, Kim Sanders formerly of Culture Beat, Ana Torroja, lead singer of the Spanish pop group Mecano, Tarja Turunen, former frontwoman of Finnish symphonic power metal group Nightwish, Greek singer Despina Vandi, and Alexander Veljanov of German Darkwave group Deine Lakaien, as well as other electronic-music musicians including Klaus Schulze, Mike Oldfield and others.
It has often taken a year or longer for Schiller to release the North American editions of their albums most likely due to having some of the German-language tracks re-recorded in English or contain exclusive or previously unreleased material. European countries, however see Schiller's releases much sooner, usually within a month or so. After the North American release of Life, Christopher Von Deylen stated that he did not wish to continue mixing English translations of the German language tracks.[citation needed]
The name of the band is taken from one of von Deylen's heroes, famed German poet Friedrich Schiller.
